Threshold Tuning: Turn Reactivity into Regulation

If your dog only listens at home, they haven’t learned calm—they’ve memorized the room.

Decode and defuse your dog’s reactions by learning how to interrupt reactivity before it explodes.

Who is This For?

Details:

4 Sessions / 90 minutes each / Public Exposure Setting (parks, trails, sidewalks)

Service Track:

Adolescent

Difficulty:

Medium-High

Age Range:

12-24 Months

Package Cost:

$750

Energy Level:

Medium, Medium-High

Target Goal:

To recondition reactivity by teaching handlers to identify and intercept rising stress signals at the pre-threshold stage, layering calm exposure, decompression routines, and handler-led rituals that rewire emotional responses and create reliable co-regulation in public environments.

Meant For:

  • Dogs who bark, lunge, freeze, or panic during walks

  • Adolescent dogs with inconsistent public behaviour

  • Dogs who are leash-reactive to other dogs, people, sounds, or motion

  • Highly alert or trigger-stacking dogs who struggle outside the home

  • Handlers afraid to take their dog in public

  • Owners frustrated by unpredictable walk behaviour

  • Owners who’ve tried obedience drills or reactivity training with little success

  • Households ready to learn how to lead in public instead of manage chaos

Expected Behaviour Shifts:

  • Reduced public reactivity and leash-based outbursts

  • Increased handler confidence in real-time leadership

  • Faster recovery from environmental stressors

  • Increased awareness of dog’s stress signals and energy shifts

  • Greater predictability and resilience during exposure walks

Service Description

Most reactivity training starts after the dog explodes. Threshold Tuning steps in before.

This 4 session program teaches you to recognize the subtle signs of stress and overstimulation—before they cross into barking, lunging, or freezing. Using the Mason’s Way framework, we install decompression rituals, emotional check-in cues, and exposure drills that actually teach your dog how to process life in motion.

Whether your dog reacts to dogs, strollers, joggers, or just overstimulation in new environments, we show you how to rebuild calm through clarity—not correction. This isn’t about shutting your dog down. It’s about rewiring how they handle the world.

You’ll gain confidence in public, your dog will gain regulation under pressure, and together you’ll stop chasing calm—and start creating it.

Neuroscience Insight

Reactivity occurs when a dog’s limbic system (Working Brain) hijacks the moment due to overstimulation or pattern recognition. Threshold Tuning uses controlled exposure to stimulate neuroplastic rewiring, allowing dogs to process information cortically instead of instinctively. Pre-threshold rituals shift brain activity from survival response to cognitive curiosity, extending the dog’s emotional window of tolerance.
